How did COIMBEE come about ?
In recent years we have helped many companies with improvement processes. We are no stranger to the role of project, program or change manager. We also saw the accents shifting: instead of separate projects (often with an ICT component) under the direction of “the projects department”, more and more projects came directly under the responsibility of the line manager. Another change we saw at the time was the road to smaller projects (now we call it Agile). But we want to go further: we want small improvement actions that are devised by employees and are taken up by employees. This is an important element of Continuous Improvement (also called Kaizen).
Excel is not enough
In practice, we see that continuous improvement ensures committed employees. However, there was also an issue: how do we keep an overview of all those improvements? This was quickly resolved with Excel or Sharepoint, but the customer found this insufficient: time-consuming, not uniform and not up-to-date (information was often not updated).
Looking for existing solutions to support the process of Continuous Improvement, we ended up with expensive and often English-language solutions, or solutions that did not sufficiently offer what the customer and we had in mind. We therefore took the first steps towards developing our own solution at the beginning of 2017. We have of course fully brought our knowledge and experience with change and continuous improvement to the fore and the result is a beautiful modern web-based IT solution, with now very satisfied customers. And a team brimming with ideas to continuously improve the Coimbee Toolbox and realize our dream described above.
